Patient Safety Month @ Khoo Teck Puat Hospital

July is patient safety month at KTPH. There are different theme with different activities happening.

Week 1 – Pressure Injury. “Stop Pressure, No Injury”

Week 2 – Fall Prevention. “Right Mind, Right Step, It’s All in My Hands”

Week 3 – Infection Control. “Safe Hands, Save Lives”

Week 4 – Medication Safety. “Medication Safety is NO Accident”

Dietitians were involved in pressure injury and fall prevention week to educate public and staff on how to prevent and manage pressure injury and fall prevention.

Good nutrition to prevent pressure injury:

  1. Achieve & maintain a healthy weight
  2. Eat a balance diet – aim for 3 servings of protein in a day
  3. Stay hydrated

Nutrition for bone health

  • Adequate calcium – aim for 800 – 1000 mg / day
  • Adequate vitamin D
  • Adequate protein intake
  • Maintain healthy body weight
  • Regular exercise
  • Limit alcohol intake
  • Limit caffeine intake
  • Avoid smoking
